Can Tho University
The overall objective of the Project is to strengthen capacity of CTU in education, research, university governance and management to meet regional and international standards.
The purpose of the Project is to strengthen capacity of Can Tho university in education, research, university governance and management university in agriculture, fisheries and environment to help Can Tho University to implement successfully the Project on “Strengthening CTU to be an Excellent Institution of Education, Scientific Research and Technology Transfer” to be funded by ODA of Japanese
Output1: Research capacity of CTU is enhanced in agriculture, aquaculture/fisheries and environment and these interrelated fields.
a. Develop human resources to effectively and efficiently utilize research equipment
b. Develop mechanisms to effectively and efficiently utilize research equipment
c. Develop mechanisms to promote interdisciplinary research studies among agriculture, fisheries and environment
d. Develop mechanisms to promote science - technology transfer activities among in agriculture, fisheries and environment.
e. Widely publicize the results of scientific research and technology transfer, especially in the region and internationally.
f. Conduct joint research studies with Japanese universities
Output 2: Education capacity of CTU is enhanced in agriculture, fisheries and environment and these interdisciplinary fields.

The Project has 14 main activities that are:
a. Procurement of necessary equipment
b. To invite Japanese experts to Can Tho University
c. To staffs to visit, study tour, and short-term in Japan
d. To improve and computerize the entire process of university governance and management
e. To accredit selected undergraduate and graduate training programs.
f. To survey and evaluate the need of graduate training in MD.
g. To develop strategy and action plan for human resources development of Can Tho University
h. To develop selected graduate training program (s).
i. To digitalize learning materials, training staff and students to exploit the effectiveness of learning resources.
j. To research and evaluate issues in agriculture, fisheries and environment in the region.
k. To develop strategies and action plans for technology improvement, solving problems in MD.
l. To implement research collaboration with Japanese partners
m. To obtain permission and publication for scientific journals in English.

Can Tho University (CTU) will be an implementing agency. Established since 1966, in the heart of the Mekong Delta, after more than 48 years of development, Can Tho University has continuously innovated, improved quality to perform the important mission in human resources, scientific research, development and transfer technology for the Mekong Delta. Can Tho University has become the key and leading multidisciplinary institution in the Mekong Delta as well as the whole country. Can Tho University currently offers 88 undergraduate programs, 32 graduate and 13 doctoral programs. The current numbers of students are 49,199. CTU has got 2,068 staff, including 7 professors, 79 associate professors, 239 senior lecturers, 889 lecturers; 1192 teaching staff with 77.8% of that holding graduate degrees. (269 PhD., 658 MSc.).
